President Jakaya Kikwete Assures Kigoma People to Receive Electricity Through MCC Funding and Hence Contribute to Improved Living Conditions in Kigoma Region Print

On Wednesday the 9th of September 2009 the President of The United Republic of Tanzania Hon. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete assured the Kigoma people that pre-actual implementation of an Energy project to provide electricity to Kigoma, Uvinza and Kasulu towns was already in progress through a US Government funding under Millennium Challenge Compact to Tanzania.

 

The President was responding to an online question posed by a Kigoma resident during a 90 minitues live dialogue broadcasted on various media organs in Tanzania. The President also took the opportunity to explain on other Compact projects to benefit other  parts of the country in the Energy, Transport and Water Sectors.

 In addition to the specific projects, the Head of State informed the public that, he was happy that Tanzania was the country with the biggest amount of money so far given or ever allocated under the MCC Compact funding. The great support from the USA people would take us a long way in our resolve to improve infrastructure limitations in the transport, energy and water sectors. The compact is a package, impacting a total of 15 regions in both Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar. The President further said once, the target projects were completed, these would highly contribute towards achieving better living conditions to many Tanzanians who have been in the cold for too long
