Millennium Challenge Account - Tanzania

The National Environment Management Council (NEMC) is an institution responsible for overseeing the integrity of Tanzanian's environment for sustainable development. It was established by the act of parliament 19 of 1983 as a co operate to protect the environment. We have a key role to play toward the achievement of the national goal of sustainable development set out in the National Development Vision 2025. We are responsible for assessing and monitoring the quality of the Environment, as well as providing technical arbitration in the course of significant environmental impacts to the society and enforcing the environmental legislation.

NEMC has more than 50 qualified technical staffs in various environmental disciplines. It is headed by Director General who is assisted by Directors, Technical

NEMC’s mission is to ensure protection of the environment and sustainable use of resources for enhancing the quality of lives of the people of Tanzania.
